   Introduction

The editors of forthcoming book volume titled “Modern Nanotechnology: Sustainable Energy and Environmental Applications” are pleased to invite you and members of your working group to submit a chapter for this book, to be published by Springer Nature, Switzerland. The book is focusing on modern science in nanotechnology, energy and environmental impacts, challenges and future ways, which is an ideal opportunity for the academia, researchers, and industrialists to reveal the latest efforts made through modern science in nanotechnology concerning society in the direction of the energy and environmental challenges. It may be possible for them to examine future directions of nanocomposite materials development and encourage future efforts in material sciences, energy, and environmental science.

Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary field with many potential future challenges, including looking for renewable energies for sustainable development and developing new technology for environmental protection applications. Nanocomposite materials are one of the hottest science and technology subjects in nanotechnology right now, and they're receiving a lot of interest in the multidisciplinary areas. As a result, nanocomposite materials seamlessly included their production technology in many applications. They continue to reveal promising potential applications in the field of solar cells, fuel cells, secondary batteries, supercapacitors, air and water purification, and the removal of domestic and outdoor air pollutants. Clean energy and environmental applications often demand the development of novel nanocomposite materials that can provide the shortest reaction pathways to enhance reaction kinetics. Understanding the properties of nanocomposite material such as physicochemical, structural, microstructural, and surface properties are essential for attaining the required efficiency, cycle life, and sustainability in various technological applications.

This book “Modern Nanotechnology: Sustainable Energy and Environmental Applications” includes the design and the sophisticated fabrication of nanomaterials along with their potential energy and environmental applications. This book is an important addition to the advancement of knowledge for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and professional engineers working in the domains of nanotechnology, nanochemistry, macromolecular science, and energy and environmental science.

The book looks at how nanoscience and nanotechnology may be used to promote environmentally friendly processes and strategies for energy and environmental sustainability. Its purpose is to promote eco-friendly methods and techniques by covering many elements of both the synthesis and uses of nanoparticles and nanofluids for energy and environmental engineering.

As a corollary, the book focuses on the creation of dependable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly processes using sophisticated nanoscience and technology research and inventions. Nanoparticle synthesis; applications of nanomaterials, nanosensors, and plasma discharge in pollution control; environmental monitoring; agriculture; energy recovery; production enhancement; energy conservation and storage; surface modification of materials for energy storage; fuel cells; pollution mitigation; and CO2 capture and sequestration are among the topics covered.

This book brings together the most recent research findings as well as pertinent theoretical frameworks on the topic of micro-scale technology for environmental sustainability. This book is an all-encompassing reference source for professionals and scholars, highlighting the consequences of this technology on energy generation and cleanup.
